The Batsheva Dance Company began as a repertory company in 1964 by Baroness Batsheva de Rothschild. It was the first company that Martha Graham artistically assisted with that was not her own. This extraordinary company specializes in contemporary/modern dance technique. Today, it is located in Tel Aviv, Israel. The majority of performances, classes, and workshops are taken place within the Suzanne Dellal Centre for Dance and Theatre, built specifically for Batsheva in 1999. All rehearsals, classes, and workshops are open to the public. The company prides itself of dancing for less fortunate people all around Israel. This company wants to make dance accessible regardless of a person’s social status.
